DIY Highlighter (Three Versions)

Updated: Jan 19

Why I love this recipe:

I’m addicted to a good highlighter but I find it tricky to find a brand that sells the exact color I want (that doesn’t have a bunch of toxic junk in it) so I love that when I make my own I can pick exactly what colors I want. I can also rest assure knowing I’m not putting any toxic ingredients on my skin.

Why it works:

The mica adds the sparkle and color (obviously) but let’s break down why I included the other ingredients. The shadow base helps to absorb oils while also helping the shadow to apply more smoothly which makes it last longer and look better. The Argan oil and aloe helps to bind it together while also helping to apply smoothly. Mix together it makes a wonderful highlighter 💖 I have been using this about 2 months now and I have been getting so many compliments 😇

This recipe is similar to the DIY Eyeshadow recipe but it has more cosmetic base in it to be smoother and glide across the skin. Which is important for covering larger areas like when applying highlighter 💖

Notes 📝

Cosmetic Base:

Equal parts Arrowroot and Bentonite clay. It’s that easy! I normally make a big batch at once and add in the lavender. It makes it easier when I get the random itch to make something 😉

I want to say a huge thanks to Stardust Micas for sending the mica pigments to me!!! 💖💖💖 They make wonderful pigments so if you need anything at all go check them out! I used the colors Golden Guava, Stardust Pearl, Golden Pearl, Pearl Blue and Just Mica to create these.
